Warburton Snares Bomber 50 Victory at Raceway Park

Three new young racers took to the track at Montana Raceway Park last Saturday night in the Bandolero division. Haedon and Leighlend Plybon and Haylie Mitchell all took their first turns in competition racing. Brock Denney set fast time for the division. Denney went on to sweep the division’s trophy dash, heat race and main event, beating out his younger brother Bryce. Denney continues to lead the Bandolero points series.

Tyler Corpron came into the weekend leading the CHS Legend point’s series, but Dalton Halden ended up tying him after winning her first main event this season. Halden kicked the night off by setting fast time. Payton Saxton, a driver from Las Vegas, made the long drive to compete and claimed the trophy dash win. Saxton went on to win the B heat race. Corpron won the A heat. Halden won the main event and Corpron came in second with Saxton rolling in third. Halden’s win ties her with Corpron for first place in the point’s hunt. The CHS Legends will be off until August 4.

Dustin Martel set fast time for the Hobby Stocks. In the first of two trophy dashes Ed Linn took the checkers. Josh Robinson took the A trophy dash win. Steve Hrisook edged Sam Naldrett to win the B Heat race. Linn beat out Marvin Stone for the A heat race win. In the main event Stone raced to his first win. Martel rolled into the weekend first in points, but with his first win, Stone has taken the lead in the points chase.

In one of their larger races of the season, the racers in the Bomber division were ready to shine and entertain the fans. Kelley Dupuis kicked off his night by setting fast time. Josh Norris won the B trophy dash and Dupuis won the A dash. Troy Pilgram took the B heat race win and Zack Mongan won the A heat race. Chris Warburton claimed the Bomber 50 win, followed by Bill McCallum in second and Josh Norris in third. Warburton leads the Bomber series points by seven over McCallum.

This weekend the Super Stock 75 races along with the Hobby Stocks, Bombers and Hornets. Time trials start at 6 p.m. and racing fires up at 7 p.m. For more information and tickets log onto Montana Raceway Park’s website or call 406-257-7223.
