WEST GLACIER – Two Glacier National Park visitors suffered minor injuries when heavy rains triggered mud and rock slides on the Going-to-the-Sun Road.
Park officials say the slides along a five-mile stretch of the road Tuesday afternoon trapped about 10 vehicles.
One vehicle was damaged and was to be towed out of the area while others were being escorted out of the closure area via one lane of traffic as the rocks and debris were removed.
The two visitors who were injured were treated by park rangers while another person with diabetes was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
The slides led to a closure of the scenic highway between Avalanche Creek and Logan Pass. Park officials said the road was expected to remain closed Wednesday and possibly part of Thursday.
