Whitefish Tourists Now Have iPhone App

By Beacon Staff

The Whitefish Convention and Visitors Bureau just released a free app for the iPhone that gives users an interactive tour of the city and the surrounding area.

Using the smart phone’s cellular and GPS signals, the Whitefish mobile application empowers local travelers to instantly find detailed information about places to eat, places to stay, and places to play in and around Whitefish. Over 130 WCVB member businesses update and maintain the content in real time, including photos, special offers, packages, event details and other information to encourage visitors nearby to visit. There is also a map view that pinpoints where travelers are in Whitefish in relationship to the kinds of places they are looking for.

“More and more, tourists want local expert information available on their smart phones to make choices about their vacation easier in real time,” Jan Metzmaker, director of the WCVB, said in a press release. “Whitefish is excited to now offer this free service for our guests who have iPhones.”

The same app was available on Android phones in August 2011.

Old Town Creative, a Whitefish-based business, developed the app for the WCVB.

To download the app, search for “Whitefish” in the iTunes app store or go to www.ExploreWhitefish.com and click on the app link.
