Larry Barber, of the Missoula Country Club, and Rob Mangini, from Whisper Rock Golf Club in Arizona, won the fifth annual Flathead Beacon Pro-Scratch golf tournament held on July 23 and 24.
Barber and Mangini shot a 66 in Monday’s first round at Eagle Bend Golf Club in Bigfork and 64 in Tuesday’s second round at Big Mountain Golf Club in Kalispell for a total score of 130.
The pair finished just one shot ahead of Jesse Wheeler, of Whisper Rock Golf Club, and Charlie Von Arentschildt Jr., of the Rock Creek Cattle Company in Deer Lodge.
The Flathead Beacon Pro-Scratch features many of the best professional and amateur golfers in Northwest Montana and elsewhere. This year’s tourney featured 36 pairs of professionals and amateurs, the tournament’s largest field in its five years.
