Ground and aerial search efforts are underway after a 19-year-old male failed to return from a day hike in Glacier National Park last weekend.
Park dispatch was notified late Saturday that Jakson Kreiser, a seasonal employee with Glacier Park, Inc. at Lake McDonald Lodge, was overdue from a personal day hike. Park rangers found Kreiser’s vehicle at the Logan Pass Visitor Center parking lot. It is believed that Kreiser was planning a trip from Logan Pass to the Avalanche Lake area.
Roughly 50 people are dedicated to the search effort, including members of the Flathead County Sheriff’s Department Mountain Rescue Team and U.S. Border Patrol. A park incident management team is leading the effort.
Kreiser is from Michigan and is in his first year working at Glacier Park. Officials describe him as 6-feet-2 with black, short, curly hair and a black beard. He is believed to be wearing a yellow sweatshirt and khaki pants and carrying a grey and yellow backpack.
Park officials are asking anyone who may have been in the Logan Pass, Hidden Lake, Floral Park or Avalanche Lake areas over the weekend and may have seen Kreiser to contact dispatch at 406-888-7800.
