Kalispell’s Ryan Porch held off Glacier High teammate Logan Iverson to win the title in his age division at the Montana Junior Amateur Championship golf tournament in Helena on Monday.
Porch shot a 1-under 71 at Bill Roberts Golf Course and finished with a 36-hole score of 140, capturing the title in the 15-17 division. Iverson stormed up the leaderboard after shooting a 4-under 68 to finish in second place with 143.
Libby’s Ryggs Johnston defended his title in the 10-12 division after nearly tying his record score set last year. Johnston shot 71-74 — 145. Last year he set a division record with a two-day score of 144.
Kalispell’s Tom Mann won the 13-14 division after shooting a 73 in the final round for a two-day score of 141. Kalispell’s Brittain Walton finished third with a 154. Joseph Potkonjak from Bigfork shot 81-83 — 164 and earned seventh place.
Whitefish’s Arthur Doorn carded a 74 and finished with 148 for third in the 15-17 division. Conor Rooney, also from Whitefish, was fourth, 150. Cody Sherrill from Kalispell finished sixth, 82-73—155. Kalispell’s Kevin Talcott, 79-81—160, earned eighth.
