BOZEMAN – Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is scheduled to speak to Montana State University’s incoming freshman class on Sept. 5.

Rice is set to speak at 7:30 p.m. at MSU’s Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. Members of MSU’s freshman class have reserved seats while another 2,000 free tickets will be made available to the public Monday at Bobcat ticket outlets.

Rice’s memoir is MSU’s 2012 freshman summer reading book. The book, “Extraordinary, Ordinary People” is about Rice growing up in the segregated South as well as the influence, support and guidance she received from her parents and mentors.

Rice served as Secretary of State from 2005 to 2009. She is currently a professor of political economy at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a professor of political science.
