Kalispell Woman Denies Charge in Fatal Crash

By Beacon Staff

A 33-year-old Kalispell woman has denied a negligent homicide charge filed after a February crash that killed her boyfriend.

Mandy Brist pleaded not guilty Thursday in District Court in Kalispell.

Prosecutors allege Brist and Timothy Attard had been out drinking and gambling and that she had illegally taken a prescription pain pill before getting into her vehicle early on Feb. 18.

The Montana Highway Patrol says Brist was traveling 90 mph in a 45 mph zone on U.S. Highway 93 when she lost control of the vehicle, which went airborne off the shoulder of the road. Attard died in the crash.

Court records say Brist’s blood-alcohol level was 0.06, which is below the limit at which a person is considered legally intoxicated.
