Morton Cruises to Victory in Super Late Model Action

Kalispell driver Bodie Morton won the main event of the Super Late Model division at Montana Raceway Park last weekend. The victory was Morton’s second this season and fifth top-five finish.

Morton is expected to compete in this weekend’s Montana Gold 212. Drivers will compete for their share of over $54,000 in prize money in the 212-lap event. The winner earns a commemorative gold bar for the event as well as a cash prize. Time trials begin at 6 p.m. and the top 12 Super Late Model drivers will be locked into the event. Those who don’t qualify in time trials will compete for the final 14 positions in a 40-lap last chance qualifier event.

Entering last weekend’s Super Late Model series, Brandon Sickler was atop the points standings and came away 33 points ahead of Tyler Corpron. Tylor Schweigert set fast time for the night. Corpron won the A dash and Tim Sundberg took the B dash. Chuck Wiech edged out Bruce Stinger to claim the checkers in the B heat race. Adam Kinkel beat veteran Danny Morris to claim the A heat race. Micah Sampson finished second in the main event behind Morton and Morris finished third.

In Bandoleros action, Bryce Denney took the checkers in the 20-lap main event, maintaining his spot atop the point standings. Bryce’s brother Brock Denney won the trophy dash. In the heat race Bryce was first, followed by Brock, Blake Hamilton and Isaiah Sickler.

The CHS Legends returned to the track after a four-week break. In a main event plagued by caution flags, Tyler Corpron maneuvered his way to victory and built a 20-point lead over Dalton Halden in the points standings. Corpron set fast time for the evening. Hal Rogers edged Devin Clayton for the trophy dash win. Clayton won the B heat. Payton Saxton took the A heat win.

Wes Miljies won the trophy dash and main event of the Bombers series. Chris Warburton built a 25-point lead over Bill McCallum in the Bombers standings. Warburton set fast time for the night. Wes Miljies won the trophy dash. Miljies took the win in the B heat race. Kyle Koehler beat out McCallum to take the A heat race.

This weekend’s festivities will kick off Friday, Aug.10 with time trials at 7 p.m. and racing firing up at 8 p.m. Friday will feature the Bombers, Hobby Stocks, Hornets, and Super Stocks all running trophy dashes, heats and main events. Saturday will feature the Super Late Models.
