Mitt Romney stops in New Jersey to raise money while the man mentioned as a possible running mate, Gov. Chris Christie, flies to the West Coast for a three-day campaign swing.
Christie and Romney won’t cross paths as the presidential candidate attends fundraisers in Lakewood and Rumson.
Christie will make several stops in California to raise money for Romney on Wednesday and Thursday. He then heads to Seattle and Vancouver, Wash., to campaign for Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna.
Christie is also set to make a campaign stop in Montana for GOP gubernatorial candidate Rick Hill before flying back to New Jersey on Friday.
The governor campaigned for Romney last week.
Christie deflected questions on Tuesday about whether he’s still on Romney’s short list as a potential running mate.
