Hill Has Big Fundraising Month in Governor’s Race

By Beacon Staff

Republican gubernatorial Rick Hill is reporting a strong month of fundraising, though his Democratic opponent, Steve Bullock, has more than twice as much cash on hand.

Friday was the deadline for campaign finance reports from candidates for statewide office for the period from July 6 to Aug. 5.

Hill’s campaign said the former congressman raised $207,205 in that period. Hill is looking to replenish his coffers after an expensive primary in which he had to fend off several opponents.

Hill spent $29,268 for the period, leaving him with $324,114 in the bank.

Bullock, the attorney general, still has $830,661 cash on hand after facing only nominal primary opposition.

Bullock’s campaign reported raising $91,229 and spending $31,412 between July 6 and Aug. 5.
