HELENA — Montana high school students’ ACT exam scores dipped slightly this year, but they still outpaced the national average.
Scores released Wednesday show Montana’s composite score average was 22, which is a tenth of a point lower than the average of the class of 2011.
But that’s still nearly a full point higher than the 21.1 national average.
Eighteen states had higher average scores than Montana, and Nebraska also had an average score of 22.
Sixty-one percent of Montana students were tested, compared to 60 percent last year. Nationally, 52 percent were tested.
