Whitefish Theatre Co. will hold auditions for its holiday musical Seussical on September 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish.
Seussical the Musical, written by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty and based on at least 14 of Dr. Seuss’s classics, is filled with music and tales that are as lively and endearing as the books by this classic storyteller. Visually, Seussical is candy for kids coupled with smart lyrics and a brilliant script that engages even the most resistant of adults. Scripts are available for perusal at local libraries. It will be performed through November and December.
Nick and Rebecca Spear, known locally for their work with Alpine Theatre Project, will co-direct the show. They are both members of Actors Equity Association and hold MFAs in Musical Theatre. Karla West is the musical director.
The cast will be composed of approximately 10 women and 10 men ages 15 and up and 7-10 kids ages 7-14. Pages of the script and music will be provided. Arrive early to fill out an audition application and become acquainted with the material.
Kids chosen for Seussical will attend two rehearsals a week starting in October from 4 – 6 p.m. with the show’s co-directors. These musical theatre sessions will be the kids’ rehearsals for the production until the technical rehearsals for the show begin. Participation fee is $75. Scholarship applications are available for children needing assistance. Please contact [email protected].
