By Beacon Staff

The Montana Highway Patrol says a 26-year-old Kalispell man died Sunday morning after his vehicle went off the road for unknown reasons and rolled.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man as Jacob Shipp.

Police say that the crash occurred about 2 a.m. near mile marker 14 on Montana Highway 2.

Shipp was traveling west when he went off the road and became pinned under the Ford pickup when it rolled, according to authorities. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt. Speed was not a factor but authorities say it’s unknown if alcohol was involved.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Montana Highway Patrol and the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.
