A 67-year-old Colorado man drowned on Tuesday while fishing in the North Fork of the Flathead River near Camas Creek.

According to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, a possible drowning was reported at 1:45 p.m. on Sept. 25 after the victim’s relative, who had been fishing out of sight around the river bend, could not locate him.

When rescuers arrived, they found the man underwater, 100 yards south of Camas Creek. He was wearing waders, but not a life jacket, according to the sheriff’s report.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the cause of death is still under investigation. His name will be released pending family notification.
