A new scam is luring in residents with a free dinner and professional presentation about saving on energy costs, according to Flathead Electric Cooperative.
Flathead Electric has heard from members who received postcard invitations to a free dinner event alleging to help members save 50 percent or more on energy bills. The company leading the scam is trying to convince FEC members to pay a cash deposit for a product described as “aluminum insulation” for attics. The company is telling members they would receive a rebate for the cash deposit, which is not true, according to FEC.
Some members have lost almost $3,000 to this scam, according to FEC.
Flathead Electric is asking anyone who receives information about the scam to call FEC at 751-4483.
