Members from Kalispell’s Straight Blast Gym won the team trophy at the Oregon Open recently. With 40 competitors from the Kalispell gym, the team racked up 54 medals, including 16 gold medals, 18 silvers and 19 bronze.
The Oregon Open had a record 767 competitors from martial arts schools in the northwest.
“Straight Blast Gym has put Montana on the map. In less than four years, we have turned beginners into champions,” Travis Davison, owner and head coach of SBG, said in a statement. “Each of our competitors works very hard to make their weaknesses into strengths and they support one another every step of the way. The end result is a team of champions. I am both proud and excited for what’s next .”
