Four Kalispell Athletes Sign with Division I Programs

By Beacon Staff

Three athletes from Glacier High and one from Flathead signed letters of intent to play Division I sports on Wednesday.

Glacier senior Ryan Edwards, a 7-foot all-state center, signed to play basketball at Gonzaga University next year.

Classmate Logan Iverson, a third-place finisher at this year’s Class AA state golf tournament, will compete at Colorado State University.

Ryan Porch, a fourth-place finisher for Glacier at the AA state golf tournament, will play at the University of Idaho.

Flathead senior Kwyn Johnson, who helped lead the Bravettes to second place at the AA state volleyball tournament, signed with Arizona State University.

Porch and Iverson helped Glacier win its first outright state golf championship in Great Falls this fall.

“This has been a goal, to play college golf, since I was in eighth grade,” Porch said. “All that hard work paid off.”

Edwards averaged 13.3 points and led the state in rebounding (10.7) and blocks (3) his junior season.

Johnson earned first-team all-conference honors this season. All-state honors will be announced next week. She is also a standout track athlete and holds the state record in the triple jump.
