FWP: Big Game Hunting Seasons Won’t Be Extended

By Beacon Staff

The state’s general big game hunting seasons will not be extended, Montana wildlife officials announced Wednesday.

The hunting seasons for deer and elk closed statewide Sunday.

“We are not planning any big game season extensions anywhere in the state this year,” Ken McDonald, chief of Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks’ wildlife bureau, said in a statement.

“If specific population or damage problems emerge, we’ll use management seasons or game damage hunts to address them.”

For hunters who registered for the game damage roster in July, season information is available online. Click “Game Damage.”
