Blacktail Mountain Ski Area near Lakeside is partially opening Saturday, Dec. 15, general manager Steve Spencer announced Tuesday.
Skiers and snowboarders will be able to enjoy the upper half of the mountain as well terrain along the Olympic chair lift, the Thunderhead lift to the intermediate station and the tow lift, Spencer said. More areas will open as snow continues to pile up, he said, but there is already a good base that will provide great skiing for all levels of riders.
The ski area, located on Blacktail Mountain Road off U.S. Highway 93, is open Saturday and Sunday and will be closed Monday and Tuesday. It will remain open everyday from Wednesday, Dec. 19 through Jan. 6. After that the mountain will return to its normal schedule of Wednesdays through Sundays.
