A 38-year-old Kalispell woman has pleaded guilty to repeatedly defrauding federal programs designed to aid low-income families.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Wendy Renee House-Bond pleaded guilty on Dec. 6 to theft of federal property by fraud after receiving nearly $41,000 in food stamps and other benefits to which she was not entitled. U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy of Missoula scheduled sentencing for March 20.
Prosecutors say Houser-Bond underreported her family’s income from September 2002 through December 2008 and obtained more than $29,000 in food aid to which she was not entitled.
Court records say she and her family illegally collected more than $10,000 in welfare benefits in Washington state from September 2010 through May 2011 and another $1,700 in Montana from June 2011 until May 2012.
