Flathead County’s Parks and Recreation Department is accepting public comment on possible plans to develop a community park in Kila.
A public meeting was held Dec. 11 at the Kila school gym, and residents arrived with ideas for the possible use of 3.5 acres of county land across Kila Road and near the Rails to Trails path.
Early ideas for the empty lot include a natural history and educational site with interpretive signs and picnic tables.
The Flathead County Commission approved the possible creation of a community park on the section of land in 2010.
Cindy Ercoline, a Kila resident who attended the first public meeting, said she would support the possibility of a park site that could be a source for “quality family time and abundant education opportunities.”
“There’s all kinds of ideas that are coming in,” she said.
