By Beacon Staff

Flathead High School has named Cory Wilson the new girls soccer coach and Dan Ferguson the new boys coach.

Both hires are pending approval from the school board.

Wilson has served as an assistant coach for the past eight years. He replaces Scott Warnell.

“Cory’s qualities are those of a coach who has extremely high expectations of his student-athletes, often getting them to work beyond their own abilities,” Flathead Activities Director Bryce Wilson said. “He has the aptitude, discipline and resolve to challenge student-athletes and to enhance our entire girls soccer program. He is a true professional who will work hard and apply himself towards his profession.”

Ferguson is currently employed as the technical director of the Bozeman Blitz Soccer Association. He replaces Chris Putzler.

“Dan is a leader who leads by his hard work and enthusiasm,” Bryce Wilson said. “He has developed into a fine professional as he has coached athletes through the college level. The dedication Dan exhibits, few other individuals achieve. He enhances every practice by his ability to assist students with one-on-one coaching and the insightful comments during games and practices. His positive energy and disposition are also factors.”
