Hundreds of anglers participated in this year’s 42nd annual Sunriser Lions Ice Fishing Derby at Smith Lake.
The event was held last week and drew more than 300 anglers of all ages who fished from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and landed pike and perch as large as 5 pounds.
The Sunriser event is one of the oldest ice fishing derbies in Montana. The event was sponsored by the Sportsman Ski Haus, Walleyes Unlimited and Flathead Wildlife, Inc.
Prizes were awarded to the following anglers:
Biggest Pike: 4.85 pounds, Shane Ellis
Biggest Perch: 1.15 pounds, Eric Holden
Smallest Pike: 0.15 pounds, Garret Frost
Smallest Perch: 0.10 pounds, C. J. Kennedy
