The Wildkats remain atop the conference standings and near the top of the Class A rankings as the divisional tournament approaches.
Third-ranked Columbia Falls is 12-3 overall and 6-0 in conference. Fifth-ranked Frenchtown is in second place in the standings with a record of 11-4 overall and 5-2 in NWA. Polson (5-10, 3-3) is third, Libby (3-12, 1-5) is fourth and Whitefish (1-14, 1-6) is fifth.
The Northwestern A divisional tournament is Feb. 21-23 in Pablo. The top two teams will advance to state in Butte, Feb. 28 through March 2.
Columbia Falls closes out the regular season against Whitefish on Feb. 9 and Polson on Feb. 14.
Haley Belgarde is averaging 15 points per game for the Wildkats. Teammate Winter Kemppainen is averaging nine.
Hamilton (13-2) was the top ranked team in last week’s poll. Billings Central (8-6) was second. Butte Central (10-5) was fourth, behind Columbia Falls.
For boys, rivals Whitefish (9-5, 5-1) and Columbia Falls (10-5, 5-1) are battling for the top spot in NWA. The teams face off in Columbia Falls on Feb. 9.
Frenchtown (7-8, 4-3) is third in NWA followed by Libby (6-9, 1-5) and Polson (4-10, 0-5).
Laurel (15-0) is the top-ranked boys team in Class A, followed by Stevensville (13-2), Butte Central (10-5), Browning (15-2) and Dillon (10-2).
