Glacier Park Proposes Increased Fee, Reservations at Many Glacier Campground

By Beacon Staff

Glacier National Park is accepting public comments on a proposal to increase the nightly fee at the Many Glacier campground and allow reservations at the site.

Comments should be submitted by March 6.

The proposed increase for nightly camping would go from $20 to $23 per campsite, and allow for site-specific reservations at roughly half of the campsites through the National Recreation Reservation System. The increase in fees would off-set the service charge of the reservation service provider and would be applied to the entire campground.

Park officials say the reservations will help visitors plan their trip to Many Glacier by securing a campsite.

The popular campground is currently first-come first-serve during the summer when it’s open. Park officials would keep half of the camp sites first-come, first-serve. There are 109 sites at the Many Glacier Campground. Individuals who hold a senior or access pass through the America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass Program would continue to receive a 50 percent discount on camping fees.

Two campgrounds in Glacier — St. Mary and Fish Creek Campgrounds — already have reservations available for a nightly fee of $23.
