Officials Identify Clark Fork River Body

By Beacon Staff

MISSOULA — Officials in Mineral County say a man’s body recovered from the Clark Fork River is that of a Superior resident missing since last November.

County Attorney Marcia Boris said Thursday evening that the body located about five miles west of Superior was that of 21-year-old Dustin Goebel. A nearby resident found the body Tuesday.

Sheriff Ernie Ornelas released a statement earlier Thursday saying the body had been taken to the state crime lab in Missoula for an autopsy.

The Missoulian reports Goebel was last seen near his home Nov. 24. Family members searched frantically for Goebel after he left his grandmother’s home without his phone two days after Thanksgiving and vanished.

He’d been listed on a national missing persons network.

Goebel was a 2010 graduate of Superior High School.
