BILLINGS – U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is scheduled to appear in Glacier National Park Monday to make an announcement on transit funding.
The Department of Transportation says the money will be used to improve access in the 1,600-square-mile park along the Montana-Canada border.
The announcement will take place at the Apgar Transit Center. That’s the hub for a free shuttle bus service that operates along the park’s Going-to-the-Sun Road between West Glacier and the St. Mary Visitor Center.
An agency spokeswoman declined to offer further details on the nature of the project or amount of money involved.
Also scheduled to appear are Federal Transit Administrator Peter Rogoff and acting Glacier Superintendent Kym Hall.
