Hunter Education Classes Scheduled For Somers, Polson

Hunter education classes have been scheduled for a number of communities in Northwest Montana. All hunter education classes are free of charge. By state law, anyone born after January 1, 1985, must have completed the course to buy a hunting license in Montana. To become certified, students must be at least 11 years old.

All students must register online for the following courses. When registering, students will note specific information and guidelines for the course included in the online posting.

Somers: Mandatory orientation for all students and parents is Tuesday, April 9, from 3:30-5 p.m. at the Somers Middle School. Classes are held 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the Somers Middle School on April 22-25; field course is Saturday, April 27: Test is April 29, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Call Wes Plummer at 752-2846, or 250-3437.

Polson: Course is held in the Polson Middle School Cafeteria. Students 18 and older can take the class online but must attend the field day on March 23. All students must sign up online or at orientation night on March 14. Parents or guardians must accompany students to the orientation. Books will be handed out. Instruction begins March 21 and the books must be completed before class. Attendance is required. Adult students are welcome. Schedule summarized below:

Thursday, March 14: 6:30-9 p.m.
Thursday, March 21: 6:30-9 p.m.
Friday, March 22: 6:30-9 p.m.
Saturday, March 23: 8 a.m.- Noon
Monday, March 25: 6:30- 9 p.m.
Wednesday, March 27: 6:30-9 p.m.
