Flathead Home School Raising Money to Play at National Championship

By Beacon Staff

The Flathead Valley Home School boys basketball team is competing at the 22nd annual National Christian Home School Championships, March 18-23, in Springfield, MO.

The best home school teams in the U.S. meet at the tournament every year to play for an undisputed national title. Last year’s event attracted 352 teams of all age groups. Flathead Valley Home School is ranked 13th among more than 100 high school teams vying for a trophy this year.

In an effort to finance the $12,000 in traveling costs, the Crusaders are raising money through a chili feed tonight and a “Hire a Player” for a day. The Crusaders will accomplish your spring cleaning, yard work, window cleaning or handyman jobs for a certain donation.

The team’s chili feed is today from 4-7 p.m. at the North Valley Senior Center, 205 Nucleus Ave., in Columbia Falls.

For $500, two players will work for eight hours. For $250, two players will work for four hours. For $125, that gets you two players for two hours.

There is a limit of 50 work days available. Call Diane Van Buren at 250-6037 or e-mail [email protected].
