Voisin Wins Second Straight Slopestyle National Championship

By Beacon Staff

Maggie Voisin, a 14-year-old freeskier from Whitefish, defended her national slopestyle title at the 2013 Junior Championships in Park City, Utah on March 7.

Voisin, a member of the Whitefish Mountain Resort Freestyle Team, squashed the competition with three near-perfect scores in the finals. Each of her runs earned scores of 90. The second-place finisher had a three-run average of 74.7.

Voisin is wrapping up another remarkable winter as one of the best skiers in the nation. She placed fourth at the FIS World Cup competition in Aspen, Colo., earlier this month.

The local freestyle team is hosting its fourth annual End of Season Bach at the Bierstube at Whitefish Mountain Resort on March 23, form 4-7 p.m. The event will include a raffle and live music raising money for the program’s scholarship fund.
