YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. — The National Park Service is providing a way for people to follow the progress of plows clearing Yellowstone National Park roads of snow.
Updated information will be posted to the park website every Tuesday through Friday morning.
There are nearly 200 miles of primary road, almost 125 miles of secondary roads and 125 acres of parking lots that need to be plowed before Yellowstone can open to vehicles this spring.
Weather permitting, the roads from West Yellowstone and Mammoth Hot Springs to Old Faithful will open April 26. The road from Norris Junction east to Canyon Village and then south to Fishing Bridge Junction is set to open on May 3.
The Park Service warns that visitors should be aware of unpredictable winter weather during the spring.
