Man Tasered After Alleged Assault on Kalispell Officer

A 24-year-old man now faces several felony assault charges after an alleged late-night assault on a police officer in Kalispell.

According to the Kalispell Police Department, Brandon Haddon confronted a Kalispell officer as the officer exited the back door of the police station. The officer saw something in Haddon’s hand, investigators say, and went back inside to take a point of cover.

The officer determined Haddon had a can of pepper spray, and said Haddon yelled at the officer to shoot him.

Two other officers arrived on the scene, momentarily distracting Haddon with their presence. The initial officer fired his Taser at the man, but it didn’t have the desired effect. Haddon then sprayed the officer with the pepper spray, according to KPD, and sprayed at the other two officers when they closed in on him.

Both officers fired their Tasers on Haddon, this time incapacitating him enough to get him into custody. He continued to struggle with the officers during his arrest, KPD says.

He is being held at the Flathead County Detention Center, and has been charged with three counts of felony assault on a peace officer.
