Flathead County RSVP Hosts 20th Annual Cribbage Tournament

By Beacon Staff

Flathead County’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program hosted the 20th annual All Schools Cribbage Tournament on March 27 at the United Way Conference Center.

Over 400 fourth graders from nine local elementary schools participated in the RSVP Cribbage program this year. The students and 76 dedicated RSVP volunteers came together to play cribbage. RSVP members help students improve their math skills while enjoying the game with seasoned players.

Eighteen teams from the following schools participated: East Evergreen, Peterson, Hedges, Smith Valley, Lakeside Elementary, Muldown Whitefish, Glacier Gateway and Ruder.

Tommy Yoakum and Alyssa Poe-Hatten from Lakeside Elementary took first place. Harley Bolinger and Caelus Hattel from East Evergreen placed second. Laura Erickson and Jason Albin of Glacier Gateway in Columbia Falls earned third.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program engages volunteers 55 years of age and older in exciting volunteer opportunities that make a significant difference in our communities. RSVP is associated with 80 different non-profits and other agencies in Flathead County.

Congratulations to all the participants and volunteers who took part in this great event!
