MISSOULA — Lake County authorities have released the names of a Missoula woman and her mother who died in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 93 near St. Ignatius.
The sheriff’s office says the victims were 68-year-old Debby Ramsey and her 91-year-old mother Mary Virginia Smith. Department spokeswoman Karen Sargeant says Smith was from California, but had been living with her daughter.
The vehicle the two were riding in collided with a full-sized pickup truck shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday.
The Montana Highway Patrol says witnesses reported the car slid out of control and the pickup hit the side of the car. Ramsey’s husband, Jim, suffered minor injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. The roads were slushy at the time.
