In the first qualifier for the annual Submission Wrestling League, 17 competitors from Montana Straight Blast Gym scored 31 individual medals.
“This weekend was the best overall performance to date for our team. Each competitor stepped onto the mats with their best skills,” said Travis Davison, head coach and owner of Straight Blast Gym in Kalispell. “The payoff was sweet and now we have more training to do. My expectations are higher now that we’ve raised the bar. We train for a 1 percent improvement everyday,”
The brazilian jiu jitsu and submission event was April 6 in Hillsboro, Ore.
Bringing home top three medals were: Joe Davison, Ricky Davison, Dylan Lindberg, Stella Davison, Bridger Wareham, Adam Hussein, Yana Mischke, Wyatt Mischke, Donovan Mischke, Ted Davison, Hunter Wellcome, Justin Green, Sunni Lindberg, Devo Lewis, Simon Doyle, Ryan Asay and Aaron Westfall.
