The Glacier softball team finished the regular season as conference champs and is rolling into the Class AA state tournament. With a sweep of cross-town Flathead last week, the Wolfpack improved to 14-5 overall and 10-2 in Western AA. After missing out on state last year, this year’s Glacier squad earned an automatic berth to the AA state tournament in Great Falls, May 23-25. Glacier will play the fourth seed from the East at 2 p.m. on May 23.
Flathead (6-15, 3-9) plays Big Sky in Missoula on Thursday in a three-game playoff series. The Bravettes are vying for their first state tourney berth since 2007.
Glacier is back at state for the first time since 2011. The Wolfpack are 1-6 in state tourney games in three previous appearances from 2009-11.
