Kalispell Man Dies in Foys Lake

By Beacon Staff

A Kalispell man died in Foys Lake on June 30, and officials are unsure whether he drowned or his death was the result of a medical event.

Lance Joseph Deglow, 49, was in a 12-foot aluminum boat with his wife, their two kids – 9 and 12 years old – and their dog, when the boat capsized in the area of North Foys Lake Road, according to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

The group was 40 or 50 feet from shore, Deglow’s wife said, and she reported that when they were about 25 feet from shore, Deglow suddenly went unresponsive in the water and she had to bring him to land.

CPR efforts on shore began immediately and continued once medical crews arrived, but to no avail.

Deglow’s wife told responding crews that her husband was a strong swimmer and that he was helping her swim to shore when he became unresponsive.

An autopsy is scheduled, and the death remains under investigation by the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.
