HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE 2013 PINTS FOR PATHS BREWFEST
Gateway to Glacier Trail nonprofit organization presents the third annual Pints for Paths Brewfest on the lawn at Heaven’s Peak Resort in West Glacier on Saturday, July 13. This year’s Pints for Paths Brewfest will feature 11 breweries sampling their finest craft ales, ambers, porters, pilsners, lagers and stouts. Montana breweries include Flathead Valley’s newest, Desert Mountain Brewing in Columbia Falls, as well as Bitter Root Brewery, Flathead Lake Brewing Co, Blackfoot River Brewing Co, Madison River Brewing Co, Great Northern Brewing Co, Tamarack Brewing Co, Big Sky Brewing Co, Bayern Brewing, and Glacier Brewing Co. New this year is the special addition of a brewed soda tent for the young and young at heart, as well as a free shuttle to local lodging and campgrounds provided by Meadow Lake Resort of Columbia Falls! Enjoy live music by opening act Dan Dubuque and headliner Shakewell, a six-piece Missoula band delivering high-energy dance music with a groove guarantee. Heaven’s Peak Restaurant will serve BBQ favorites for a fresh, summer dinner to complement the variety of brews available.
TRAIL BENEFITS OUR COMMUNITIES
The vision of the Gateway to Glacier Trail is a separated bike and pedestrian path along U.S. Highway 2 connecting the Flathead Valley with Glacier National Park. This separated path will provide a safe corridor for locals and visitors cycling to Glacier Park. Current fundraising efforts will build a section of trail from Coram to West Glacier, approximately seven miles, connecting with an existing 3.5-mile trail running from Hungry Horse to Coram. Eventual completion of the full trail through Badrock Canyon will connect Glacier National Park with more than 100 miles of trails in Flathead Valley and beyond. The trail will benefit the whole valley by providing a safe, beautiful corridor for cyclists and pedestrians as well as a new attraction for our area akin to the Hiawatha Trail of Idaho.
ONLY 11 percent OF FUNDS NEEDED LEFT TO RAISE!
The Gateway to Glacier Trail nonprofit group needs to raise a local match and maintenance money to make this vision a reality. To date, Gateway to Glacier Trail has raised 89 percent of the necessary funds and the group has a deadline of one year to complete the fundraising. The Pints for Paths Brewfest is its flagship fundraiser for this great cause. The festivities begin on Friday, July 12, with a “pedaling-poker-run” – a bike ride along the proposed route. Make a weekend of it and come enjoy a variety of Montana beers, live music, delicious food and Glacier Park views. There are numerous campgrounds around the area that could provide an excellent weekend in Gateway to Glacier Country. Details on the pedaling-poker-run ride, other fundraising events and donation opportunities are available at www.gatewaytoglaciertrail.com or on the Gateway to Glacier Trail Facebook page.
