Downey Takes Over as New Bigfork Activities Director

Josh Downey is the new activities director and boys basketball coach at Bigfork High School, administrators announced last week.

Downey graduated from Bigfork in 1999. He replaces Kurt Paulson, who stepped down as AD and head basketball coach to accept an assistant coaching position at the University of Montana.

Downey received a bachelors degree from Concordia College. He played basketball at Concordia and was a two-year starter and team captain. In 2008, he completed his Masters of Arts in Sport and Athletic Administration at Gonzaga University. He began his teaching career at Mead Middle School in 2008 and for the past four years has taught at Timberline High School in Boise. Downey has an extensive coaching background, having been an assistant basketball coach at Concordia College, Gonzaga University, Whitworth University and most recently Timberline High School, where he has spent four years as head boys basketball coach.
