BOZEMAN — Montana State’s quarterbacks completed 78 percent of their passes and threw two long TD passes in an abbreviated scrimmage.
Senior DeNarius McGhee completed 5 of 7 passes for 84 yards Saturday, including a 48-yard scoring pass to running back Cody Kirk.
Backup Jake Bleskin passed for 131 yards, including a 73-yard scoring pass to Tanner Roderick. Roderick, a quarterback at Nevada before transferring to MSU with three seasons of eligibility remaining, caught four passes for 122 yards. Roderick was intercepted on a two-point conversion attempt.
Coach Rob Ash was happy with the explosiveness of the offense and the stout play of the defensive line.
He also announced he wasn’t going to redshirt running back Gunnar Brekke of Helena, who rushed once for six yards and caught two passes for 19 yards.
On defense, Connor Thomas had two sacks and Alex Singleton had three tackles for a loss.
