Daines Goes to Israel on Congressional Trip

By Beacon Staff

HELENA – U.S. Rep. Steve Daines is going to Israel on a congressional trip.

Daines’ office said the Republican is joining other congressman to meet with Israeli and Palestinian leaders this week.

They will discuss the country’s relationship with the United States, the peace process, regional security and other issues.

Daines said that the nation’s security interests are “directly tied” with Israel’s.

The freshman congressman said he also hopes to discuss economic opportunities for Montana businesses.

The trip is being paid for by the American Israel Educational Foundation, a privately-funded group that lobbies for pro-Israel policies in Washington D.C.
