Temporary Closure on Grave Creek, Trail Creek Roads in Kootenai National Forest

By Beacon Staff

A project to replace a bridge on the Kootenai National Forest will impact thru-traffic crossing the Whitefish Range between the Grave Creek drainage to the west and the North Fork Road on the Flathead National Forest to the east, the U.S. Forest Service announced.

The Grave Creek/Trail Creek Road, NFSR #114, will be closed to motorized use at milepost 14.1 from Aug. 20 through Sept. 6. The Kootenai National Forest will be replacing a bridge at this location on the Fortine Ranger District. The site is located 150-feet east of the junction of NFSR #114 with the Therriault Lakes Road, NFSR #319, and approximately 2.2 miles west of the Flathead National Forest boundary.

This closure will not affect access to the campgrounds at Big and Little Therriault Lake using the Grave Creek Road access off of U.S. Highway 93 south of Eureka. However, it will prevent thru-traffic on The Grave Creek/Trail Creek Road between the Grave Creek drainage and the North Fork Road, NFSR #486 on the Flathead National Forest.
