Registration Opens for Kalispell Hunter Education Courses

Online registration is open for the Kalispell hunter education course. Students must register online and attend the orientation on Saturday, Sept. 14, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The orientation session is at the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Headquarters on North Meridian Road in Kalispell and students can pick up pre-course materials and receive further instructions. It will require about 20 minutes for students to go through the orientation, according to FWP.

Classes will run 6 to 9 p.m., Sept. 23, 24, 25, and 26 at Flathead High School in Kalispell. The field day is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Flathead Valley Trap Club north of Kalispell. Test night is Monday Sept. 30, 6-8 p.m.

To register, visit the FWP website and click on hunter education, then hunter education schedule; select Sept. 14 and a classroom at Flathead.

Anyone born after Jan. 1, 1985, must complete a hunter education course before buying a hunting license in Montana. Only individuals 11 years of age or older at the day of sign-up may be certified upon successfully completing the course. Eleven year olds turning 12 by January 16, 2014 are eligible to hunt the 2013 season upon certification. The course is free of charge.
