A Marion man underwent emergency surgery in Kalispell after being shot during an argument Thursday night, according to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, 34-year-old Jason Guymon was shot twice. Guymon underwent surgery in Kalispell and was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His condition is currently unknown.

Flathead County deputies arrested Paul West, 51, on suspicion of assault with a weapon. West is currently being held in the county detention center pending formal charges. The investigation is ongoing by detectives of the sheriff’s office.

According to authorities, a friend of Guymon’s was riding his horse to Guymon’s house. West, who lives at the entrance of a private road, confronted him and told him to leave. The rider proceeded to Guymon’s house, with West following in his pickup. Guymon came out of his house with a shotgun and as the argument escalated, both West and Guymon fired shots.

Friends took Guymon to the Marion Fire Hall where he was airlifted to Kalispell Regional Medical Center to undergo surgery.
