UPDATE: Evacuation Order Lifted Near Lolo

By Beacon Staff

MISSOULA — The Missoula County sheriff’s office has lifted an evacuation order for 50 to 60 homes near a 200-acre fire burning east of Lolo.

The sheriff’s office recommended precautionary evacuations Sunday night for homes in the Upper Miller Creek area as the Miller Creek Fire quickly grew from a lightning strike at about 9 p.m. to a 200-acre fire.

Officials were concerned a change in the wind could put the homes in danger.

The fire is being managed by the Missoula Rural Fire Department and the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.

No injuries have been reported.
