Sheriff Seeks Driver in Vehicle Pursuit Who Escaped on Foot

By Beacon Staff

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the driver of a vehicle who led authorities on a pursuit out to U.S. Highway 2 West, and fled on foot, eluding pursuing officers.

Sheriff Chuck Curry said his deputies are looking for Ryan Denny, 29, of Kalispell.

According to Curry, a Tuesday evening call reported an attempted vehicle theft in the K-Mart parking lot in Evergreen at about 9 p.m. The theft attempt was unsuccessful, and officers located the suspect’s vehicle a short time later in the Village Greens area.

Attempts to stop the car were unsuccessful, and a pursuit ensued. Deputies, along with officers from the Kalispell Police Department and Montana Highway Patrol, followed the vehicle to U.S. Highway 2 West, where it got stuck on an unimproved road off Spruce Hollow Trail.

The driver fled on foot, Curry said, and evaded search crews, which included Montana Highway Patrol and U.S Border Patrol, who responded with a K-9 and handler.

Anyone with information about Denny’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office at 758-5585 or Crimestoppers at 752-8477.
