The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office has identified the Whitefish man who died in a vehicle crash on Saturday.
Fred A. Dietrich, 54, was the only person in the vehicle when it left the roadway on East Edgewood Drive in Whitefish and struck a tree. The crash occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 21.
The Montana Highway Patrol reported that Dietrich was speeding and failed to negotiate a right-hand turn at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday when he struck the tree.
Dietrich was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
