The Montana State football team moved up while Montana fell in the weekly polls of media and coaches.
Montana State rose three spots to eighth in The Sports Network poll after a dominating 63-20 win at North Dakota.
Montana, meanwhile, fell three spots to 10th after a 34-16 loss at now-No. 15 Northern Arizona.
In the coaches’ poll, MSU moved up three spots to seventh while Montana fell five spots to 12th.
Eastern Washington fell from second to sixth in The Sports Network poll and from third to eighth in the coaches’ poll after its 49-34 loss at Sam Houston State.
MSU’s Kirk Named Big Sky Player of the Week
Montana State running back Cody Kirk has been named the Big Sky Conference offensive player of the week.
Kirk, a senior from Frenchtown, rushed for 112 yards and five first-half touchdowns in the Bobcats’ 63-20 win at North Dakota. His five touchdowns tied the school record held by Don Hass and Michael Jefferson.
Sacramento State defensive lineman Darnell Sankey earned defensive honors. He tallied a career-high 10 tackles with three sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in Sacramento State’s 31-3 win at Weber State.
Southern Utah Kicker Colton Cook and UC Davis kicker Brady Stuart share the special teams honors.
Cook made two field goals, including a 48-yarder, and all three of his extra points in Southern Utah’s 27-14 win over Northern Colorado. Stuart kicked three first-half field goals and made all three of his extra points as UC Davis beat Idaho State 30-13.
