Whitefish’s Tabish Wins Class A Golf State Title

By Beacon Staff

Whitefish senior Erin Tabish made sure there wouldn’t be a playoff again this season.

A year after losing by one stroke in a state playoff, Tabish won the championship after shooting back-to-back impressive rounds at the Class A state golf tournament in Polson. Her final score of 83-82—165 was six shots better than runner-up Jaylin Kenney of Polson. Tabish capped an impressive prep career that featured top-three finishes at state all four years.

Polson had four players finish in the top 10 and the Lady Pirates edged Whitefish by six strokes to win their third consecutive team title. Kenney was second, Nicole Clairmont shot 83-92—175 for third, Peyton Anderson shot 94-88 — 185 for fourth and Lauren Dupuis shot 93-94—187 for ninth.

Katie Fyall placed sixth for Whitefish, carding 86-93—179 and Simone Craft, 92-96—188, placed 10th to round out the Lady Bulldogs’ all-state players.

Whitefish’s Doorn Earns Second at State Golf

Arthur Doorn earned second as an individual and the Whitefish boys brought home a silver trophy from the Class A boys state golf tournament in Polson. Doorn shot 3-over 75 in the final round and finished one shot off the leader, Jackson Wagner of Anaconda. Doorn shot 72 in the first round and finished with 147 to Wagner’s 146.

Whitefish scored 645 points, six shy of the state champion, Sidney. Cooper Donahue was the other Bulldog to earn all-state, shooting 74-80—154 for fifth place.

Alex Killian of Polson shot 79-79—158 to earned ninth.
